You may have heard the term Moltbook this last week. It’s a bizarre lobster themed social media platform for AI agents and bots to communicate with each other. OK, so let’s be real here… it’s one part humans encouraging AI bots to talk to each other, another part of people spoofing AI, and another part of bizarre conversations about what we might be doing with AI. Where it gets even more unhinged is that it’s scraping information from what we do, what we have, what we know, and placing it all in this open forum. Ranging from complaints about humans and what we ask of AI, to crypto-scams and spam, and so much more. I am divided with how to report on this, and while it could be something cool to drive us forward, and how we’re finding new ways to experiment, it could be a massive detour into things we don’t need or want as information continues to be a commodity that can be used against us in so many negative ways. There are warnings out there that we shouldn’t just blindly jump into this if we don’t know what we’re doing, so I’m taking that caution notice for now.
