A number of headlines have been chatting up the coming changes to ChatGPT, and other AI platforms, all about how it’ll sound less AI. One of them touts a new feature that may be coming, where you load in an example of your writing style, and the AI will duplicate your tone, structure, and more. I don’t usually deal in what Keith calls speculative fiction, the rumor mill, or leaks. That having been said, the advance of AI has already shown promises in this same direction. I’ve seen the various platforms that I deal with start to improve how they operate, and you can give guidance to these AI assistants to loosen up, or tighten up, or follow directions on tone and style. The result will be that AI will start acting more like humans, and even their specific operators. It’s an inevitable part of the evolution of the software, moving to what we want in our daily writing operations. I’m still not a fan of all of the hidden items that we don’t know, the potential for invasion of privacy and more, but AI is changing the world fast. If you haven’t tried it out for your writing tasks, give it a shot, knowing that you will still want to review and edit every word to match your own particular approach.
