We keep getting reminders about the loss of ownership. This time around, Sony has notified some customers that movies they purchased through the PlayStation store… not rentals, but full purchases, will be taken away due to an expiration of a licensing deal. This is something most people didn’t know about when paying some $20 apiece, and now their money is long gone with no refunds. Of course, these customers may have purchased these years ago, so there’s no claim to make with the credit card, and you’d have to buy a lot of movies to make it worth a court case. Just a bad deal all the way around. I’d rather continue buying DVDs and putting them on own my Plex server.
People in Europe will soon lose access to Studio Canal movies they paid for on the PlayStation Store.
