At this time of every year, we get some of the biggest Supreme Court rulings announced. One of the biggest privacy items this year, was a squashing of government usage of tracking our location information without a warrant. The ruling reaffirmed that we have an expectation of privacy that must be respected. It doesn’t stop items like obtaining a warrant with probable cause, but it does slow and restrict the police from just dropping by your house because you happened to be near something bad that happened. Google had already resolved many of the issues, but this was still a long term win for privacy in our very connected world.
