Bans on smartphone bans in school have been moving forward. While it was more controversial a few years back, it seems that public opinion has been shifting pretty hard across all ages. Pew Research Center has run a survey finding that just over 3/4ths of US adults are onboard with banning middle and high school students from using cellphones during class. There are plenty of distractions, issues with screen time, and other drawbacks with smartphone usage that support this idea. So many youth are in need of the focus on learning and being educated, and teachers have to do something. I get the complaints by addicted teenagers, but this is about becoming adults, and tempering the temptation to avoid responsibility.
