For a while now, we’ve talked about the RAM crisis bumping up the costs of hardware. It seems, however, that Microsoft felt left out, and they decided that they will now bump up the cost of Windows licenses for OEMs by up to 10%. Now, this isn’t a big jump in overall dollars, perhaps up to $20 more, but it’s notable that they decided to do this now, when pocketbooks are already hurting. The latest on the RAM front is that 64GB would run you about $250 last October, and it’s running in the $1250 range. Prices for SSD drives have levelled out over the last 3 months, but are still up from $100 TB to $260 TB.
