For a long time now, I’ve been seeing doom and gloom for the AI, in the form of the term “bubble”. Many have been crackpots, and scare mongers, but now? This last week Fortune magazine noted a massive misallocation of capital fueling the AI boom. Fancy words for lots of money for no apparent reason is going into AI. It’s hard to deny the massive spending with low rewards, the high valuations based on promises that aren’t coming, and the many people realizing that AI isn’t as great as we’d like it to be, especially for the price. However, the world of AI isn’t going anywhere, just look a little different, just as most bursted bubbles have done in the past. We need to adapt and keep pace, or be left behind on the likely path for our future experience in computers and technology.
