A new name for an old technique. Killware is malware that intends to do serious harm, instead of previous ulterior motives (like money). Cyberterrorism has been around for a while, but assigning the term killware does give us a better definition of the subset of attacks. These attacks go against water treatment, emergency services, power companies, and other critical infrastructure. As more countries weaponize the bits and bytes, the more we will see this impact everyone. Cybersecurity workers will become more and more valuable as well… if you’re looking to change jobs.

Hackers increasingly target infrastructure – from hospitals and water supplies to banks and transit – in ways that could injure or kill.
