California is pushing AB2273, an act that would require all websites to verify the age visitors to ensure children don’t access information that could be bad. Sounds good, right? Except it would require ALL websites accessible within California to adhere to this. Opponents call this “a trojan horse for comprehensive regulation of Internet services”. California would then be able to audit all of these websites for any reason. Imagine you going to your favorite political site… opponents could label you as a bad guy for that. This is how democracy, or a republic, fails miserably…. and communism… pravda… brainwashing… takes over.
California lawmakers met in Sacramento today to discuss, among other things, proposed legislation to protect children online. The bill, AB2273, known as The California Age-Appropriate Design Code Act, would require websites to verify the ages of visitors.
