The days of hours on end at Starbucks, leeching off of their free Wi-Fi may be coming to an end. What has been allowed since 2018 after an embarassing incident, is being identified as a hazard for not only their employees, but also their business. Due to this, they put in a new policy requiring purchases, and a Coffeehouse Code of Conduct, posted in each of their stores. The employees are now encouraging what has been called laptop lurkers from their stores. Due to various confrontations, Starbucks is installing panic buttons that lock the doors, and alert authorities. They are also working on providing de-escalation training to the same workers.
