In some areas, drivers who drink and drive, are later required to have a Breathalyzer interlock on their car. The state of Washington has taken a step towards a new, yet similar item, that would require speed limiters to be fitted to cars and trucks. Currently being pitched as only for anyone with a record of “excessive speed”, aka 20mph or more over the speed limit. This follows a California attempt for the same. Now, it would require a tie-in to GPS to read the speed limit on the road being travelled. Will this deter? Who knows. Will this hold up? Who knows. Will this even work? Who knows.

A new bill proposes fitting speed limiters on the vehicles of drivers who have previously had their licenses suspended for excessive speed.
