Post anything political, or about voting, and apparently Facebook will hijack your message to direct everyone to “authoritative information about the upcoming presidential election”. George Orwell didn’t see this coming… and this scares me. Why? Because we’ve seen that fact checkers have shown biases, and Facebook has followed those biases. No matter who you support, this should trouble you as much as the newspaper Pravda used to trouble the citizens of the USSR.
Beginning Thursday, U.S. Facebook users who post about voting may start seeing an addendum to their messages — labels directing readers to authoritative information about the upcoming presidential election.
